How to make a St. Brigid's CrossThe custom of making St. Brigid's Cross out of rushes was to hanging above the entrances to dwellings to invoke the help of St Briget in warding off disease. Rushes were traditionally used to make the St Brigid's Cross. These were collected from marsh land. For those of us who don-t have rushes nearby drinking straws are a good substitute. Use rubber bands to tie up the ends.
